Our local referee association is looking for hard-working individuals to join their team for the 2015-16 season.
Anyone 14 years or older registered in the GHA (District 9) interested in becoming a Referee for the District 9 Referee Association, (D9RA) will be required to attend a 2 hour ice session tryout on Saturday May 9, 2015 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Bob McQuarrie Recreation Complex (formerly the Orleans Recreational Complex). Everyone MUST be registered in advance and the cost is $10 to tryout.
Registration begins at 5:30pm sharp! Don't be late. Ice time from 6:30 to 8:20 and interviews from 8:30 to 9:30pm. In addition to the on ice skating assessment we will also administer a written multiple-choice quiz and an interview. You will need a helmet and skates (these are mandatory).
I look forward to seeing many GHA players that want to become involved as referees at this tryout. The process we are using will be the only way someone in District 9 will be selected to become an official for this coming 2015-2016 season. Within a couple of days after the tryout we will advise anyone attending the tryout who we have selected to be eligible to attend the Referee clinics with the ODHA and become a qualified official this season. Successful applicants may be required to obtain a Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector).
