Initiation Program
The GCMHA IP Program for 2008-2009 - Schedule
Please check back in September.
About the Program
The Initiation Program (IP) is for kids who are 4, 5 or 6 years old as of December 31 st , 2007. In some cases we place 7 year olds, who are new to the game, in IP as well. The program is intended to teach kids the basic fundamentals of the game, learn some of the basic rules of the sport, and have lots of fun. The programs are focused largely on skating drills and games. In later sessions the kids will practice puck handling and shooting. Games against other teams are organized individually by the coaches/assistants – and are recommended for returning 5/6 year olds and first year 6 year olds. However, all groups usually play a 5-10 minute game at the end of each practice.

Full equipement is required - including a mouth guard and neck guard.
