Peewee C are finalist in Nepean tournament
Peewee C are finalist in Nepean
tournament
After a great game to open the
tournament on Friday night with a 4-0 win over the
Nepean Stallions, the Peewee
C were pumped to play their second game. However, after some nice come
from behind goals to even the score up, the team was defeated in the
last 40 seconds by the
Stittsville Stingers. The Skills Competition was
another opportunity for the Cougars to show off them skating skills.
Many of our players ranked in the top 10 in the skating challenges and
it was good to see that the Powerskating sessions were paying off.
The team regrouped and went for
dinner and decided to get their game faces on for the next game at 7pm.
It would only take one goal for us to move on to the semis and we got a
couple to defeat the
Nepean
Hurricanes. The semis were held early on Sunday at 8:30 am
and after the long day before, we hoped that the kids would be ready to
play and they were. Another 1 goal game for us and we beat the
Nepean Sharks and to move on
to the finals. After racking up 3 shutouts and only allowing in 4
goals, the goaltending duo of Skylar and Dylan, our team was awarded
the Best Save Percentage trophy. But we still had a game to play and it
wasn't going to be easy since we had to play the
Stittsville Stingers again.
The game started out great with the Cougars scoring first, but the
momentum was on the other team's side and they ended up winning 6-1.
The Cougars played their hearts out and gave a great effort. Kudos to
all your hard work!! We left the tournament a much better team than we
arrived.
